Is the free tier a trial?
No. There's no card, no countdown and no expiry. Everything that runs on your own machine costs us nothing to give you, so it stays free.
What exactly does $25 a month pay for?
Everything that needs our servers: keeping your computers in sync and backing up what Arlo made, your brief and alerts on your phone, the web and WhatsApp, Arlo's hosted models, and research on the people you're meeting. Those cost us money every time they run, which is why they're the line.
Is there a limit on the hosted models?
A fair-use allowance each month, which normal daily use doesn't come close to. It's there so one extreme user can't make the plan lose money. If you reach it, Arlo's hosted models pause until the 1st, and everything on your own machine keeps working.
Can I use my own models instead?
Yes. Arlo will use a model running on your laptop, or your own Claude subscription, and both are free. You're paying for your own electricity or your own subscription rather than our invoice, and nothing is counted against an allowance.
Do you read my mail?
Your mail is indexed on your machine. Arlo's window cannot reach the internet at all; everything that leaves goes through one door, and you can read what goes through it.
What about Windows?
There is a Windows preview at arlo.fyi/download/windows. It is not signed yet, so Windows will ask you to confirm before it runs. On Mac, Arlo runs on both Intel and Apple silicon.
